Domain Specialist Andy Dale provides support to his clients throughout the TDL life cycle. Andy has been working in the defence sector in both systems engineering and TDL consultancy roles since 1997 and has an Masters Degree in Advanced Systems Engineering. Whilst Andy is involved in a number of different TDL programmes and initiatives, he is very passionate about the importance of capturing operational context and requirements prior to developing TDL solutions. In that sense, Andy believes that the exploration of operational concepts, articulated as appropriate through the modelling of scenarios, mission threads and vignettes, leading to the capture of a robust set of Information Exchange Requirements, is key to the success of a programme. This ensures that all stakeholders clearly understand the scope for the required TDL solution. Having a robust view of the operational requirements will also greatly assist in the technology selection process and will also reduce the possibility of “requirements creep” during development and integration.
